Annual Sale of Standing Straw
Wednesday 8th July 2008 saw Cooper & Tanner hold their annual sale of standing straw at Frome Market. 513 acres came under the hammer and with a packed ring an excellent trade was established. Bidding was very brisk with buyers well prepared to take options where given. 1st winter wheat’s sold to £53/acre while 2nd wheat’s were all over £50 acre topping at £57! Oats were in equally strong demand with 100 acres of winter “Muscani” averaging £55.50 acre.
