Dispersal Calved Heifers to £2020: Calved Cows to £2020

Included in today's sale was the complete dispersal of 150 head on behalf of Guy and Jane Sainsbury from Park Farm, Marlborough.  Demand was excellent for this mainly homebred cubicle housed herd off the Marlborough Downs.  Being a regular supporter of both Chippenham and Frome Market it was not surprising that a large crowd of all local purchasers was present.  First calved heifers commanded fast bidding regularly over £1700 topping at £2020.  Overall we saw prices in excess of £2000 on three occasions with two second calved cows to £2010 and £2020.  Good runs of second and third lactation cows £1400-£1800.  Dry cows produced an amazing trade with the local purchasers taking advantage of this opportunity to buy good well bred cattle.  Younger dry cows due August/September to “Grand Prix” commanded premium prices £1600-£1800.  Older sixth and seventh lactation cows generally selling well £700-£850.
