The complete suckler herd dispersal on behalf of Sir Richard Sutton, Benham Estate, Newbury saw a large complement of bidders and buyers in attendance and trade was strong throughout the sale. Mainly Simmental x South Devon dams with Angus x South Devon calves fast produced an excellent average close to £900.  All stronger younger types were sought after and regularly from £900 to £1000.  Older cows selling well from £750 to £850.  A few 1996 cows and calves seeing a lively trade from £700 to £780.  In-calf cows and heifers due February to April to pedigree named Angus sires produced a wonderful trade and everyone very keen for these grand sorts.  In-calf Simmental x South Devon heifers produced an average of £888 and older cows to £735. Heifers saw prices five times over £1000 to £1020.  Older cows saw super demand with 3rd calving dams to £1030!
