Roger Warren passes away

Published: 31/08/2022

We are very sorry to inform you that our friend and colleague Roger Warren passed away. Roger had been battling cancer since diagnosis in December of last year, it is a cliché to say that he fought hard – but in Roger’s case this is the truth.

Roger has worked at our Sale Rooms for many years, at one point managing both the general and antique rooms for weekly sales. This was a demanding role, but Roger was never less than enthusiastic and accommodating to both fellow staff members and clients. The latter always appreciated Roger’s extensive knowledge of antiques in general, but it was in the field of horology that Roger excelled, his knowledge of clocks of all ages was encyclopaedic. He not only knew the history of clocks and the names and career of every clock maker – he knew how to repair and renovate them too. He was entirely self-taught and was the best kind of expert – he knew his stuff but would neither brag nor bluster about it.
Roger will be greatly missed by all of his Sale Room colleagues, past and present, as well as by many of us in the wider Cooper and Tanner family. We all send our condolences to Roger’s family.
