Record average at straw auction

Record average at straw auction hero

We have now completed our annual sale of standing straw. This year we saw almost 2000 acres of standing straw go under the hammer, once the main crop has been combined the remaining straw will be baled and used for livestock winter bedding.  As expected, following a long-extended winter, and empty barns, the straw prices were at an all-time high!  Winter barley £120/acre, winter wheat £128/acre, and spring barley at £85/acre.

August is a quieter month for the Outside Sales team, and we are now thinking about our annual autumn collective sale of farm tractors, vehicles and machinery.  This will be held in the sale fields at Frome Livestock Market.  This venue is a firm favorite with vendors and buyers alike and we will be trying to repeat the success of our record spring sale held back in April of this year.  The sale site has excellent access, hard tracks in the auction field, tarmac car parking and restaurant, as well as dog patrol overnight security, along with two top spec telehandlers and drivers. Entries are now being taken for the sale, which is on Thursday 19th September, entry forms can be downloaded from our site - see you all there!
