Rising fuel Costs
Families are feeling the pinch with the cost-of-living surging, all aspects of life are being affected but currently keeping ourselves warm in the heart of Winter can be proving difficult. You may or may not be aware that in 2022 The Government launched ECO4. The initiative was designed to tackle fuel poverty and help reduce cardon emissions. The ECO scheme means that medium and large energy suppliers – such as Eon, British Gas & EDF, are obliged to help households with energy efficiency measures. The scheme provides funding to help eligible people who own and live in their own property, and includes low-income families, solid wall houses, low energy efficient housing (pre fabs) etc.
How does it work?
Under ECO4, medium and larger energy suppliers fund the installation of energy efficiency measures in British households. Each obligated supplier has an overall target based on its share of the domestic energy market in Britain. The obligated energy suppliers work with installers to introduce certain efficiency measures into your homes.
The Home Heating Cost Reduction Obligation (HHCRO) requires energy suppliers to promote the installation of measures that lead to financial savings on energy bills, such as the installation of insulation and heating measures therefore you may well receive a letter in the post. This project is to help also the Government to improve their chances of hitting the Net Zero Carbon Emissions for 2050 which is the most ambitious Carbon Emission target in the World.
Cooper and Tanner are committed to doing their part towards Net Carbon Emissions and making this a greener planet. For further assistance and guidance in this area please call our Development Manager – Darren Woodyer
